College and medical training are important periods of transition that involve significant change and growth. As with any life transition, these experiences can feel overwhelming and challenging. With the right support, strategies can be implemented to help facilitate a smoother adjustment.
It is important to recognize that the majority of mental health conditions begin before the age of 24, making this a critical time for early identification and treatment. In addition to supporting undergraduate and graduate students, we also specialize in working with medical trainees, including medical students, residents and fellows, who face unique stressors related to rigorous training, long hours and high expectations.
We have established relationships with several universities and hospital systems in the Chicagoland area and serve as the liaison for the McGaw Housestaff Wellness Program at Northwestern University. A consultation with Meridian Psychiatric Partners will help determine the most appropriate treatment approach, whether pharmacologic or nonpharmacologic. We may also recommend referrals to other clinicians within our practice or in the community to ensure comprehensive, individualized care.
