Psychotropic medication to treat psychiatric issues, including opioid addiction
This outpatient treatment evaluates a patient’s need for psychotropic medications. After a thorough review, we’ll develop a treatment plan, recommend drugs, and explain their possible side effects, safety and effectiveness. Our qualified physician will provide the prescription and routinely monitor your use of the psychotropic medication to track progress and desired outcomes.
Suboxone is a prescribed drug that contains buprenorphine and naloxone and is used to treat opiate use disorder. It works by inhibiting the body’s craving to use opiates and also minimizes withdrawal symptoms. Although suboxone requires close monitoring by a physician, one of the advantages of this treatment is that it can be managed on an outpatient basis. After a comprehensive evaluation, suboxone can be prescribed and picked up at your local pharmacy. Follow-up visits are required one or two times per month when the treatment begins and generally decreases to monthly appointments thereafter.
