The recent FDA panel on antidepressant use during pregnancy has sparked significant concern among reproductive psychiatrists and maternal health experts (more info can be found here). Many professionals criticized the panel for disseminating misleading information about the use of antidepressants in pregnancy and failing to adequately represent the perspectives of specialists in reproductive psychiatry.
Notably, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) issued a statement highlighting the panel’s lack of balance and emphasis on the potential harms of untreated perinatal mood disorders.
